Behrooz Kamgar-Parsi received the Ph.D. degree in physics from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, in 1978.From 1979 to 1980 he did research in sleep disorders at the National Institutes of Health. This work led to the first successful treatment of human non-24-hour sleep-wake syndrome. From 1981 to 1984 he was a Visiting Scientist at the Division of Computer Research and Technology at the National Institutes of Health, where he did research in numerical analysis. From 1985 to 1988 he was a Research Scientist at the Computer Vision Laboratory of the University of Maryland. From 1988 to 1989 he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, George Mason University. He is now with the Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence, Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, DC. His current research interests include computer vision, neural networks, and the application of Al techniques to the production of maps and charts.
