Heinz G. Urban received the degree of 'Diplomingenieur' at Technische Hochschule in Aachen in 1961.He worked as a research scientist at Krupp Atlas Electronik in Bremen, German, and in 1971 became chief of the Research Division. In 1974 he was director of a NATO Advanced Study Institute on Adaptive methods in Underwater Acoustics. Since 1989 he has worked at the SACLANT Undersea Research Centre as Group Leader for Applied Ocean Acoustics. His research interests include ambient noise in the ocean and acoustic signal processing and data aquisition.
Dr. Urban is a member of the Acoustical Society of America.
