James M. Grochocinski received the B.S. degree in engineering physics from the University of Illinois, Urbana, IL, in 1988, and the M.S. and Ph.D.degrees in physics from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 1991 and 1993, respectively.
In 1993, he joined the Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), Seattle, WA, in a Post-Doctoral position researching ocean physics, hydrodynamics, and acoustics. In 1994, he became a permanent member the APL research staff. He has studied Hamiltonian formalism for stratified ocean dynamics and imaging using arbitrarily distributed sources and receivers.
Dr. Grochocinski is a member of the American Physical Society.
