Kam W. Lo (S'84-M'89) received the B.Sc. degree in applied mathematics, the B.E. degree (Honors Class I) in electrical engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 1983, 1985, and 1989, respectively.
From 1988 to 1989, he was a Research Associate in the School of Electrical Engineering, University of New South Wales, where he was engaged in the development of an antenna tracking system for mobile satellite communications. After completing his Ph.D. work, he was a Lecturer in the Department of Electronic Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic, a Research Scientist in the Microwave Radar Division, Defence Science and Technology Organisation, and a Microwave Engineer in the Division of Radiophysics, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation. Since 1995, he has been with the Maritime Operations Division, Defence Science and Technology Organisation, Pyrmont, New South Wales, Australia, where he is currently working on passive acoustic surveillance systems. His research experience includes antenna analysis, microwave circuit design, synthetic aperture radar autofocus and motion compensation, radar system modeling and performance evaluation, adaptive beamforming, and signal processing. His current research interest is developing advanced signal processing techniques for acoustic surveillance systems.
