N. Convers Wyeth was born in Wilmington, DE in 1946. He received the A.B. degree in physics from Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, in 1967, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1974.From 1974 to 1979, he worked on compound semiconductors and photovoltaic solar cells as an Associate Scientist at the Institute of Energy Conversion, University of Delaware. Since 1979, he has been with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in McLean, VA, and is presently a Senior Scientist in the Marine Technology Division. His research interests at SAIC have included thermophotovoltaic systems, infrared target detection and imaging, nuclear thermal pulse simulation, nonthermal biological effects of microwave radiation, thermoacoustic wave generation, phase transitions and electrical double layer effects in biological membranes, applications of simulated annealing, and acoustic array element localization.
Dr. Wyeth is a member of the American Physical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
