Frank J. Pipitone (S'79-M'80) received the B.A. degree in physics in 1971 from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, the M.A. degree in physics in 1973 from the University of Texas, Austin, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering in 1977 and 1982, respectively, from Rutgers University.He is a Computer Scientist at the Navy Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, DC, where he is Head of a robotics and vision research group. His specific interests include three-dimensional vision using range data, and planning and control in autonomous systems.
