Stephen A. Reynolds received the Ph.D. degree in oceanography at the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1982.

After two years of Post-Doctoral work at the University of California at Santa Cruz, he returned to the University of Washington in 1984 where he has been an Oceanographer at the Applied Physics Laboratory. His research interests include underwater acoustics and oceanography and signal analysis, in particular, understanding how ocean internal waves and other fine structures effect acoustic propagation and how measured acoustic variability can be used to determine statistics of the scattering field.

Dr. Reynolds is a member of the Acoustical Society of America, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Society, and the Oceanography Society.
