Yskandar Hamam (M'84) received the B.E.E. degree from the American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon, in 1966, and the M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in 1970 and 1972, respectively.He was a Professor Adjunto at the Universidade Federale do Rio de Janeiro from 1972 to 1973 and Assistant Professor at the American University of Beirut from 1973 to 1976. He was a consultant to the UNERG Company in Charleroi, Belgium, in 1977. He then joined the Ecole Supérieure d'Ingénieurs en Electrotechnique et Electronique, Noisy-Le-Grand, France, in 1978, where he is presently the Dean of Faculty. His research interests are in optimal control and optimization, analysis of large systems, neural and fuzzy control.
Dr. Hamam is a member of the AFCET, the French Robotics Association, and the IFIP 7.6 Working Group.
