Terry E. Ewart received the B.S. degree in physics and the Ph.D. degree in high energy from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1959 and 1965, respectively.

At the University of Washington, he is currently a Research Professor in the School of Oceanography, a Principal Physicist at the Applied Physics Laboratory, and an Adjunct Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department. He is also an Associate Fellow at Clare Hall, University of Cambridge. His research interests include medium to small-scale oceanography, wave propagation and acoustics, stochastic inverse problems between ocean acoustics and oceanography, and numerical experiments to test theory and interpret field experiments.

Dr. Ewart is a member of the American Physical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the Marine Technology Society, and is a fellow of the Acoustical Society of America.
