Architecture

The code organization mimics the conceptual architecture of IDEA. The code is organized in a planning technology and application independent core, external technology-specific modules and supporting application modules.


IDEA Agent Architecture

The code has been organized to conform to the architecture of the framework. The code is organized in a planning technology-independent core, external technology dependent modules and supporting applications.

Core

The core comprises the following modules:
• Agent, orchestrates the interaction between the subsequent modules
• AgentRelay, relays messages between the agent and the external world
• GoalLoader, loads goals into the agent
• ReactivePlanner, updates state based on events and parameter specification
• Planner, infrastructure for the planners
• PlanServer, infrastructure for the plan database
• Simulator, infrastructure for simulating external systems
• XIDDL, modeling language
• Utilities, general infrastructure

Modules

The following technology-specific modules are available:
• EUROPA2, core modules implemented using the EUROPA technology
• IPC, core modules implemented using the IPC technology
• Xerces, core modules implemented using the Xerces technology
