I think you are right.  We will plan on packaging your amp in our housing.  We've submitted an abstract into our internal proposal process and should hear in the next 2 weeks or so whether we will be proceeding to a full proposal.  Keep your fingers crossed.

I confirmed that there is no way to package the amplifier inside the transducer.  Separately having a pressure housing for the amplifier also does not seem to be economical because your would have the packaging cost of the housing, connectors etc. and you would still have to provide power to the amp.  From what we understand it seems that the best would be for you to package the amp somewhere else,… inside your electronics?

 

If we’re missing something here maybe we could set up a telecom.  Please let me know.

OK Gene,  I’ll review next week when my guys get back.  

 

The problem with the transducer is that it is oil filled (pressure comp) and the amp is not designed for immersion or for the pressure.  We could house the amp in its own housing but will need to figure out connectors etc.

Thanks for the speedy reply.  This will be fine for my budgeting in the short term but I would be interested in a quote for the whole deal (transducer, matching network, power amp, …) all in one pressure housing.  We are working at 500 meters or less.  It looks like the standard unit is rated for 6000 meters.  Rather than ask you to custom design a 500 meter unit, it would be interesting to see what depth the unit could be rated for by just lengthening the existing housing to accommodate the power amp (along with all the internal bracketry and wiring) and if this would be more economical.
