Download Failure Trouble Shooting: 1) Wait 2-3 hours if possible, most download "problems" are flukes. 2) Check that there is video from Toro, CH 9 and/or CH 12. If there isn't, the power may have failed and the generator is off-line. The UPS will last about 15 minutes. If there is power, try a manual connect for at least 12 minutes. 3) If it's a TNC, do you get a "cmd:" prompt? If not, try typing RESET and see if you get one. If you do, be sure to reset the TNC name with: MY TORO If life isn't better now, go to shoreside TNC troubleshooting. 4) If it's a Teledesign, check to see if Toro is actually transmitting. You can use a Kenwood or other UHF radio tuned to the correct frequency (466.7875 MHz) and listen for keystrokes. If that works, try a full loopback test with another Teledesign radio. If this works, its a mooring problem. 5) If either of step 4 fails, go to the cupola, check relevant connections and MODEM #3 connect status. the "CD" LED will be lit and it will say "STATUS = ONLINE" when it is connected. Press the ">" key, it should say "9600, ASYNC, LAPM" if it is connected properly. Try a MODEM power cycle, make sure it reconnects and that the above conditions are present. Try step 4 again. 6) Make sure TSUNAMI is actually talking to the MODEM. Make sure the MODEM's TX LED blinks when transmitting. 7) If all this fails, the problem is at Toro. Try the same business with the MODEM on that end. If that's working OK, it's the Teledesign(s) or antenna(s). Shoreside TNC troubleshooting: 1) If you cannot get a Toro TNC "cmd:" prompt, check the cupola Freewave connection. You might try power cycling the Freewave. Make sure the Freewave links up at the other end and make sure the TX LED blinks when attempting to transmit. 2) If you DO get a Toro TNC "cmd:" prompt, check to see if it's actually transmitting with a Kenwood radio. If it is, try a full loopback test by connecting to Toro with a Kenwood or other radio/TNC combination. If this fails, the problem is at Toro.
