You can install the Zissou Software on a Mac, however it is increasingly difficult to install Zissou software on MAC as each new version of mac iOS is released. If you have difficulty installing Zissou Essentials on your MAC, I recommend opening the terminal.app and issuing the following commands: 
 
When decompressing the .zip, the application contents didn't retain the execute bits. Add it back with sudo chmod -R 755 /path/to/app
Since the application was downloaded by a web browser the quarantine bits are set on the decompressed files. Remove that with                                    sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /path/to/app

I recommend using windows, RSILink4.0.1_setup.exe contains two software programs, RSILink and Motocross Terminal. Motocross is the preferred terminal to communicate with the instrument and only works on windows. If you would like to use a mac, you can use the mac install file for RSILink and provide your own terminal. I recommend using coolterm CoolTerm - Download (lo4d.com), but you will need to configure the software to communicate with the MicroRider. To get you started, the baud rate is 9600.
