We need to figure this out as a group; if we decide to be an active body, we need a plan to execute our mission. - Be informed about current scientific/technical issues and trends related to platforms and form comments/opinions on how MBARI should respond to them - prevent ourselves from reinventing things - How do we accomplish this? - look at initiatives internal/external - look at ORION and other reports - best way may be to talk about our problems specifically - questions: - number/complexity of moorings - scientific fleet funding (pull back across board vs directed surgical cuts) Action Items: - Next Meeting: Thursday 21 July, 1300-1400 - Discuss abstracts - Discuss larger directions, reading list etc.
