This files describes the steps required for playback of files produced by the MPEG4000

CPU
---
Playback of MPEG-4 video is very CPU intensive.
For this reason, it is recommended that the CPU is at least 1GHz and has plenty of RAM.

DivX codec
----------
The best codec to use is DivX 5.0.5.
Once the codec has been installed using the DivX installer, open Windows Media Player 6.4.
To make sure that Windows Media Player 6.4 is used, run mplayer2.exe
From the File menu select the Open option and then click the browse button.
Browse to a MPEG4000 generated AVI file, select it and click Open
Right click on the video and select Properties.
Select the Advanced Tab
DivX Decoder Filter should be listed in the "Filters in use" list. Highlight it and click Properties
Select the "Postprocessing Settings" tab.
Set the "Quality level" slider to minimum.
Set the "Film Effect" slider to minimum and make sure the check box is not checked.
Select "Quality Settings" tab.
Enable all the check boxes on the right of the dialog, acknowledging all message boxes that appear.

The DivX codec is now configured for optimum speed.

Windows Media Player
--------------------
It is recommended that Windows Media Player 6.4 is used for playback.
This revision does not have the overhead that other players do since it does not use skins or add any unneeded features.

Windows NT
----------
Playback is possible using the DivX codec under Windows NT as long as sufficient service packs have been installed and Internet Explorer has been updated.

Display Modes
-------------
Playback performance is usually better when the display mode is 800x600 16 bits per pixel.
