Agenda 25 June 2008 meeting - Surface Commons

  1. Project goals (Francisco)
    1. From science perspective would like to see one-stop-shopping for MBARI upper water column data.
    2. Make it easy to create products from all of the data to answer simple science questions.
    3. One page for mooring data that explains all the different data sets (post recovery, near real-time, etc.)
    4. Should be able to quickly assemble data to answer basic questions.
  2. Scope of work
    1. CTD (including bottle) data - BOG
    2. Mooring
    3. AUVCTD
    4. ROV-CTD
    5. Glider line in Monterey Bay (from Scripps)
    6. (NOEPP)
    7. Build infrastructure in 2009 to put us in a good position for 2010.
  3. Strategy to get the work done (Francisco & Mike McCann)
    Regular proposal or part of the MDUC Core Data proposal?
    Should we write an abstract for the July 2 deadline? (Yes. Mike McCann will write.)
    Target for being an MDUC core data project.
  4. Gross estimate of Support Engineering time to be requested (WAG)
    1. Mark says that about 130 days fully allocates one support engineer
      1. Mike McCann will work on nuts and bolts
      2. Brian has offered to develop toolkits (Matlab) for working with the data
    2. We can count on about 60 days of Reiko's time
    3. We'll request some of Kevin's time to help when we need help with SSDS
    4. Mike Godin's time - to serve as a customer
    5. Fred and CenCOOS are some of the customers
  5. Brainstorm technical approaches
