ArcMapNav.dll v2.0 - README

$Id: README.txt 13040 2013-01-11 00:33:36Z mccann $

This is a .NET assembly that works as a plugin for ESRI's
ArcMap 10. The plugin is designed to enable ROV users to record
vehicle positions and comments (called Markpoints) during ROV
operations.

It establishes realtime navigation data feeds from MBARI's UDP
servers which also provide data to MBARI's DataProbe application.
Ship and ROV positions and headings are used to draw symbols of
the vehicles on a map display. Markpoints can be created and are
saved to automatically named shapefiles in a directory chosen on
the Setup window.

There are 6 tools in the ArcMapNav Toolbar:

1. Setup window: Open to establish connection to navigation
server and adjust parameters for data display and markpoint
   recording.
2. Turn on and off ROV real-time navigation layer
3. Turn on and off Ship real-time navigation layer
4. Create Markpoint at mouse location when user clicks on map
5. Display Range and Bearing between 2 points chosen with the mouse
6. Create Markpoint for the Quick Markpoint vehicle

To configure your ArcMap application to use ArcMapNav select
Customize -> Toolbars... and check the ArcMapNav box. A dockable
toolbar window will appear for your use in ArcMap.

If you do not see 'ArcMapNav" in the Toolbars list then close ArcMap
and register manually by executing this command in a cmd window
with Administrator priviledges:

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\ArcGIS\bin\ESRIRegAsm" "C:\Program Files\ArcMapNav\ArcMapNav.dll"

To get started click the first button which brings up the Setup
window. After the connection is established click the ROV and
Ship buttons to add the real-time navigation layers. The Setup
window must remain active, but it can be minimized.
