ArcMapNav.dll v1.5 - INSTALL

$Id: INSTALL.txt 7021 2010-03-15 21:27:37Z mccann $

This is a .NET assembly that works as a plugin for ESRI's
ArcMap. The plugin is designed to enable ROV users to record
vehicle positions and comments (called Markpoints) during ROV
operations.

It has the following prerequisites:

 - Micorsoft.NET\framework v 3.5 - which should be in your C:\Windows\
   directory. If not then download & install from MS's web site.

 - ESRI's ArcGIS 9.3 with updates, or greater. (To prevent having to
   install ArcGIS twice make sure that the .NET framework is installed
   before installing ArcGIS and do a "Complete" ArcGIS install.)

Previously installed versions of ArcMapNav should be removed via
the 'Add or Remove Programs' control panel before running this
installer.

Detailed installation instructions:
-----------------------------------

Before installing ArcGIS please install the .NET v3.5 framework from:

  <http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en>

Then install ArcGIS 9.3 or later (standalone), e.g. from MBARI's Intranet:

  <\\tornado\Apps\ArcView\ArcGIS 9.3 (standalone)>

Run the setup program and do a complete install - a "Complete" installed is required to get .NET support.

The registration codes for ArcView and its extensions are at the bottom of:

  <https://mww.mbari.org/rd/gis/ArcGISSetup.htm>

Then install any updates or service packs needed for ArcGIS

Finally, install ArcMapNav from:

  <https://oceana.mbari.org/confluence/display/CoreData/MBARI+Core+Data>

Click on the 'Installer for ArcMapNav v1.5' link.

Note: The .NET v3.5 framework installation should have also added the directory
      C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 to your computer. It is
      important that this directory exists on your computer as this is where the
      RegAsm.exe program resides. It is executed by the ArcMapNav installer.
      (The ArcMapNav.dll must be registered by this program for ArcMap to "see"
      it.)
