Machine Builds

• NEO is ready for new lid.  Needs bulkhead valves, brackets, and top of can fittings.  Getting ready for pier deployment. 
• Two of our radios need repair.  Brent has RMO #s and will task Cheri with their return.

• Jon Erickson's 2009 time on CMORE to design a 200m can is on-hold pending Gene's end-of-year review on drifter feasibility.

Software

Deep ESP/DWSM

• Doug's detective work found that the SS parts sitting in 2% bleach was causing rust, specifically crevice corrosion.  Using more dilute bleach (0.2%) followed by water wash should be okay to the metal.

• We have a quote from FloTech for the Benthos ducer baffle.  Will tell Hans told to order; charge $3600 to ASTEP II.

GUI

Deployment Issues

•  Brent noticing hand jitter on both Moe (at M0) and Mack (at SC).  Thinks its from belt tensioning changing and slower sampling rate of the firmware.  These have slower 32hz sampling protocol in the firmware.  Gordon has newer 64Hz, and tuning doesn't need to be so precise.
• Bruce's cable has been dissected, and it is thought the break in leads #1 and #2 occurred ~2 inches from the start of the bell termination housing on the bailer end of the EM cable.  Jim Scholfield thinks he can get it re-terminated with the remaining EM cable to be ready next Thursday.  This changes our plans for Bruce, which we will now try and 're'-deploy on Monday or Tuesday (Oct 12/13).  Will check with Grech about which will work for DMO; maybe go with Shana Rae if needed.  Roman will dunk radio-box looking for leak.
• D-ESP.  After plugging in, hand seemed to jam a puck at top of stack #2.  Brent and Scott seemed to fix it--it's now run 3 shuffle puck routines, and Brent has pumped water through the core.  Mission will begin tonight.  Ideas for figuring out why it did this was to cold-shock it in the van, and use dial indicators to see how much physical change cold actually induces.
• Brent noticed that when turning off power to DWSM, the compensating temp gauges in the new pressure sensors cool down, so when powered again, there is all sorts of funkiness while they re-warm.  Decision is to leave Gordon on all the time.
• Chris P. published Gordon's mission here(v4).

• SC pier deployment.  Pumps are both in Bldg B lab near the eyewash.  Brent and Jim will go to Pier Weds to work on setting up communications.  Meet with city officials next Weds about using their network to communicate with our system.
  

 Other Items

• For those listed on the R&D 100 award, there will be a ESP TEAM PHOTO on Monday.  Time still to be set-up with Todd.  Stay tuned.
• There is a new listserv for discussion of ESP problems and technical issues:  ESPTECH.  Please use that when discussing difficulties.  Dirty laundry, even if about to be cleaned, still stinks...
