Thanks to Scott, Brent, Roman, and Cheri for the long hours last night bringing Neo and Mack back to life...

Deployment Update

• MOB Tuesday PM, depart Weds morning 06:30.  Crew will be Chris S., Roman, Scott, divers: Lonny & Mike.  Crane operator Luis, with x-tra pay for childcare/OT.
• Will deploy one @ MO, travel to SC, then back to M0 (allows 1 hr b/w each dive for divers)
• In water will fire off full-phase.  Then rest and start on 11th.
• Moorings:  lots of little things still to do, but coming along nicely.

• The Plan:

• • Mack and Bruce will be canned tomorrow (Friday).  Bruce will be moved to it's mooring in preparation for radio testing.
  • Brent will radio test Mack Friday.
  • Saturday, Chris P will load PCR reagents on Neo.  Then start a 24hr run lat Sat, making sure to do a full MFB with BAC run.  This will confirm all reagents are good.  At start of this run will note power on Watts-up meter so we can get a power usage estimate for a full run.
  • Neo gets canned Monday
  • Dual radio testing for Neo/Bruce Monday.

Machine Builds

• Dwarf Boards:
  • Dick soon to go on 2 wk vacation
  • All boards tested.  6 R-valves fail.  Failures came on motor tests.  Could be Xylinx solder joints.
  • Wayne writing a 'theory of operation' for dwarf and R-valve boards
• Issues with cores:
  • Mack: replaced a dwarf board yesterday when it was acting unreliable.  First board to go bad in long while.
  • NEO:  Brent fixed jittery Sample syringe brought about by too slow a minimum speed for integrator to adjust to. This change may need to be carried to all cores.
    • • Brent noticed hand could not extend all the way.  May be a calibration/config issue; will work with Scott on this
      • Software:  issue with getting emails outside our firewall; Brent chewing on a fix for this.
    • Chris wants to run short IPC and SAR 11 to see if column is working.  After that, run some negatives to show it's clean.  then fire off a full SHA.

MFB

• Grill progress stalled until Mike gets freed up.  Addie asked to put in formal requests for work to get into que.
• New MFB user's manual will be on Confluence Friday or Monday.
• New LLNL module not tested; waiting on SPE heater block from Mike

Software

• New CTD's have different firmware.  Nontrivial.
• CS syringe on NEO has been changed
• Bruce--got stuck last night.  Anytime tried to move a syringe or valve it hangs.  It waits for a thread that's already dead.
• Mack--PS and clamp got corrupted (overcurrent errors).  Sent out a 'recover' and it fixed it.
• Can't seem to FTP into shore station from his house
• Radio tests worked well, but while one file is uploading, link is monopolized (we can't talk to the other machines)
• Will give radio's to Jose
• Home syringe has been renamed.
• Firmware code still not frozen until Brent fixes: 1.  Recover from hang due to dead thread, 2. Link protocols fixed, 3. CTD changes made

DWSM

• Sphere bottom (2nd casting) is finished w/ rough out; needs finish work and ports milled
• Sphere top (1st casting) won't make shape, but machining adjustments will make it acceptable (or we'll de-rate it)
• Should be finished in 2-4 weeks
• Bulk-heads (swiss cheese plates) are in the mill and being processed.
• Doug soon to deliver large PO for Pressure transfer barrier (accumulator) for $6K

• Elevator ideas:

• • will have roughly 6'x6'x8' size.  Lobos crew thinks size will be fine
  • Doug believes 4 leg will be more stable than 3
  • Foam pack findings:
    • 40lb/ft^3 will be $16K; 28lb/ft^3 will be $20K; Glass spheres will be $10K but much risk
    • will go with 28lb/ft^3; they say ~January delivery.  Buying in brick format so useful for others after ESP project ends.
  • Much brainstorming about elevator design, working at angles, how to counteract uneven surfaces, etc.

GUI Development

•  Kevin working with Chris Preston on the new 'killer' mission planning app; Chris having trouble running on her home machine
• data management software should be finished tomorrow.

Other Items:

• Doug provided a 2009 deployment breakdown.  Chris, Jim, Doug will discuss off-line before approaching Grech about schedule.
