Present: Scott, Doug, Chris S., Jim, Addie, Brent
Absent: Wayne, Cheri, Kevin
Machine Builds
- Allison replaced Mack o-rings with silicone (red ones); Roman doing dunk test in various reagents.
- Procedure when 'getting' any boards is to notifiy Dick Littlefield, who is the inventory keeper. Addie to let him know of the boards she borrowed from Wayne.
MFB
- Addie has rec'd doctors instructions for bed rest until she has her baby, thus will not be returning to the lab after today. We will continue with the McLane visit using Cheri and Scott.
- Addie will change the stator and install Scott's taffy pull mixing tube on MFB1 so we may run PCR next week when Kendra comes to visit (Friday).
- We will order 9 regular 14-port stators
- First grill is called MFB1, MFB2 & MFB3 will be built with McLane. The MFB on the tombstone is called either 'MFBNeo' or 'the tombstone'.
Software
- Garbage clean-up fix seems to have worked.
- Brent working on multiple config-file issues regarding linking MFB to a core
- Must make sure back-plane and grills are labeled, so config files stay linked to the appropriate grill
- We will visit check-out scripts with stops after the holidays
DWSM
Sphere
- Sphere dye tested (passed) and is returning from Wah Chang. Arrive tomorrow (Friday) or early next week.
- Much discussion of what we should pressure rate to. Depends on where we send it; 3000m will get to 90% of known vent sites. Port H. can test to 3700m. We will probably not go deeper than 2500m; Chris to talk to other ASTEP PI's. When we see what they want, we'll pass info to Doug, and test for that.
Elevator
- Doug finished a 'walk-about' PDR with ship crew about what would work re: elevator design
- CDR for final elevator design; try to do by end of next week.
- Doug has calculated size envelope, weight balance, Center of Bouyancy, Center of Gravity.
- Leveling system should work fine to 8degree slope
DWSM
- All tubing is finished; just 4-5 days left for assembly. Progress slowed because of time put into elevator design.
GUI Development
Other Items:
- For January: must revisit puck order for both MOE and for 2 more cores coming along. Also HV puck design. Will talk to Mike Parker about this upon his return.
- Discussed attending JALA for Brent and Scott. Will decide Monday who wants/is willing to go.
- Much discussion about moving our deployment dates. If we can change current schedule, plan is as follows:
-
- Dive 1: March 25--no core but elevator, DWSM, sphere
- Dive 2: April 7-core in sphere, elevator, DWSM-run WCR
- Dive 3: April 14-core in sphere, elevator, DWSM-minimal chemistry (SHA)
- Dive 4: May 1-4--plug into MARS (date depends on what we can get that first week)
- Dive 5: 1-3rd week of May – pick up from MARS
- JUNE 8-12--Flyer cruise (these dates may be moved a few days earlier, depending on DMO scheduling changes)
- AUG 16-26--Flyer to Axial
- Dive 6: Nov 4--plug into MARS, pickup in early 2010
