Schedule Items

  • October deployment:
    • Using Shanna Rae;  MOB on October 8 (Weds), deploy October 9 (Thurs).

Machine Builds

  • Problems with Mack and Bruce have been resolved since SC visitors.  Thanks to work by Scott and Roman.  Still noticed forearm slide on Mack needed to hammer each time.  This issue should be resolved in next build when we use different slides.
  • Still need to mock-up and test new communication protocols to be used during October deployment.  Jim will check with Science to see when machines are free for this.
  • Scott still working on testing puck sensor boards when he has time.  These will not be implemented until after Oct.
  • MOE update:  easiest to plumb from inside out, and Cheri still waiting on the custom AIV stator cap.  Thus, plumbing put aside and she's been building manipulator arm;  mechanical work finished, finish wiring today, start testing; hand should be finished early next week.
  • 3rd Mooring:  all parts are fabbed.  jim S. will start building next week or as soon as his immediate FOCE duties are finished.
  • Dick checking Sleepy boards, has not started on dwarves yet.  As a way to get up to speed, Wayne will insert himself into the QC process of sleepy and dwarf boards.  Scott noted that Dick may have jury duty Sep 15/16.

 MFB

  • Mike P. has started looking at mounting tombstone (TS) to NEO.  Should be mounted by end of next week.
  • Grinding noise of ATV was deemed inconsequential.  Much discussion about removing detents from valves.
  • Sealing around mixing column was discussed.  This should be something Chris/Addie/Jim/Scott brainstorm about.
  • Addie and Chris P. working on test-plan for MFB/NEO integration.

    Software

  • Due to Wayne's knee surgery, antenna mounting moved from Sep 6 to either Sept 12 or 13.
    • Plan is to make 1 visit.  Brent assembling parts necessary and will bring extra router in case we cannot access the one on-site.
  • We will clone the 'server' in Brent's office (Bufflehead) to a machine lifted from A244 Lab.  Wayne can then use this in his testing of boards.

DWSM

  •  Bell housings have just been turned, ports cut, and may have to be sent out of state for anodizing.  Doug will lean on El Camino...
  • 2" Ti plates are here and in queue for cutting into swiss-cheese plates.  Jerry/Ray have the drawings for 1 plate; Sample plate drawing (easier) should be finished by next week.
  • Oatmeal can is about 20% finished.  Will be able to CNC cut the threads on it.
  • Several pump parts are here and can be load tested for power draw.
  • connectors not ordered but Doug thinks they will be here quickly.
  • valves not ordered yet
  • complete DWSM instrument will be assembled by end of year.
  • Building a high-pressure test interface will cost ~$10K.  Doug given advice to charge this to ASTEP, but charge may be split among several funding lines.  Jim and Chris S. to meet about this.
