Machine Builds

  •  Feb 23 Cheri finishes core builds and calibrations
  • New battery connectors for surface-can lids have been ordered.

MFB

  •  Cheri will ship 3 MFB kits to McLane tomorrow.  Chris S. will cut PO to pay for assembly of 2 of them.  Kits will not have instructions included.  Tim can get copies of things when he's out next week for core assembly
  • USCS people now finished with MFB01 and we can proceed with integration on MOE.  Will do it the week of Feb 17; next week Scott will work on single connector, week after that Cheri can do mechanical merging.

Software

  •  Ruby patch on all machines except MFB02, MFB03, Gordon, and Betty.
  • Brent needs more cables:
    • serial & debug cable (10-pin to DB9)
    • PCR w/ level-shifter
    • J-TAG cables
  • Discussion about the need for more (newer?) laptops.  Brent and Jim will talk to Todd.
  • McLane needs one laptop that runs LINUS.  (this typo purposely inserted to see who reads these notes).  Again, will talk to Todd about getting a machine.
  • Checksum difference--Wayne DID get correct bits eventually, so gave to DWSM and seems to be working.
  • Wayne, Brent, Scott, Doug to meet at 10am tomorrow to discuss DWSM issues
  • Wayne thinks 1 more day on dPress stuff and hardware and he'll be finished with DWSM hardware
  • new Ethernet extenders shipped out today

DWSM

Sphere
  • Sphere is approved to 4000m!  Hooray.
  • MACK is designated core for Deep ESP tests.  During June Flyer cruise, we will be using a new build (TBD).
  • engineering will get  MACK the week of Feb 23.
  • Doug can fit any core into sphere, giving time to cold-test MACK
  • Before that, GG will be cold tested in chamber to -2C, then put syringes on Mack.
Elevator
  •  CRP may be moving up their foam delivery date to mid-March due to some prior order cancellations
  • It will need machining; still to determine who will do that
  • Modem;  we only have USBL transducers on the ships, but not lots of track record with this modem for both communications and release.  Brent will talk to Dale Graves about this to help us decide what to go with.
  • Although it's a back-burner issue, Doug will check with Flyer winch specs to see if it would be possible to use Spectra line to help place the D-ESP.

DWSM

  •  SeaConn will deliver elevator cable MARCH 13
  • for wet-mate connector, we will use FOCE spare ODI connector--terminate exactly same way as on FOCE.
  • Question as to whether the SIM-Can will go with us on the Northern Expedition.
  • One pump on DWSM seems bad; Doug looking into getting replacement
  • Brent will start working on DWSM control next week, after latest firmware on all dwarves.

Other Items:

  •  light puck testing not yet finished
  • Teflon retainers & O-rings--Chris S. hasn't done anything yet
  • Need to re-machine puck top to accept new o-ring arrangement to hold against scintered frit.  Doug to talk to Mark B/Mike Parker about this.
  • Van.  Will meet with Chris to discuss $$ for this.  Needs to go down to 2 degrees C.
