Machine Builds

•  Moe now has GG's harmonic drive part of the hand.  Cheri noticed that GG's lower hand is sticky; could be slider, could be bad motor.
• Bruce leak.  Found that o-rings in processing clamp were noticeably cracked; replaced and re-ran; Nilo said new photos look good.  Discussion with Doug on a different material that would not crack with our reagents.
• Mack;  flush puck may still be stuck as it hasn't been used.  will check after lunch
• Cheri busy ordering parts for other two cores.
• One cart has a flat tire.

MFB

• Jose currently busy, but will be available in 1 week to do wiring harnesses; he'll build 2, send rest out for manufacture.
• Parts ordered for serial connector to core; should be here Monday/Tuesday
• 2nd grill:  Addie writing scripts for PCR and SPE
• Encoder/Dwarf;  Addie had interesting problem where MFB froze, but after shutting several open windows, control was regained....  Dwarf losing thje encoder count has not occurred again, but unclear why.  Rebooting fixed.
• Chris P. has run plasmids on NEO MFB, and now negatives are coming up positive.  She still needs to do a full-decon, and may require longer hot bleach times.
• Chris P. is setting up for a BAC superphase, to be run with debugging on.  Much preparation, so the actual run may not begin until Monday.

Software

•  Xlinx issue; Brent and Scott working in bldg B to try and understand how encoder counts are being lost/dropped
• Jim (and possibly Roman) are starting a Ruby commenting project.  Ultimate goal is to write a 'users manual' for the ESP.

DWSM

Sphere

• Wah Chang has been notified of potential repair and is looking into their policy.  Regardless, we will ship the sphere back to them for dye testing to make sure there are no other surface voids that HIP could not eliminate, but we can't see.
• Tapemation should be finished with machining this week.  Doug to check.
• Min-K delivery has moved from 6 weeks to 11 weeks (ordered 9-22-08); Scott has called and waiting to hear compny update.
• Pressure test facility information (from Mark Brown):
  ** Hi Mark,

Given the size of your housing it will fit in our 72" dia pressure
vessel which is rated for 5,400 psi. It was rated for 5,500 psi but the
Navy Hyperbaric System Certification people said we had to have put a
relief valve on the vessel that is rated at the max working pressure
(5,500 psi). To be on the safe side, we only go to 5,400 psi.

The daily rate is still $1,800 until Jan. 1, 2009 then it will be
$2,100.00. December is open except for the week of the 8th and from the
25th till Jan. 5th.

DWSM

•  Doug has sent up warning flare that our first DWSM deployment is rapidly approaching (Feb. 23), and we should start upper level programming of DWSM in parallel with the lower level testing that can currently occur.  Brent/Wayne/Scott working on getting both upper and lower level testing up and running.
• Many parts to be ordered for elevator.
• Doug wants first deployment to be test of elevator with surrogate sphere (weights) to test deployment/recovery procedures.  The next deployment we should have sphere pressure-tested and can add to the elevator.

GUI Development

•  Chris P. working with Kevin to better incorporate data processing within Alfresco

•  Thanks to Scott for an excellent job at cleaning the high-bay post-deployment and also the Bldg B clean-up.

  Remember Please remember to use ESD straps in the bldg A lab, as most of its chairs and countertops have failed ESD testing.  Dick Littlefield looking into seat-covers that are ESD compliant.
