Jim and Chris will be gone next 2-3 weeks.

Plans to be completed by week of June 30:

Tech Transfer

  • Finish NEO temperature calibration then give to Science for exercising
  • verify boards for MOE and mount/install
  • start fluidic buildup
  • waiting on several items (pressure sensor, various machining from El Camino)

MFB

  • Finishing SCWRRP samples this week
  • Yesterday laid out detailed decision-tree on future experiments
  • Chris P. to make sure enough MM, P/P, template for uninterrupted runs for next 3 weeks
  • Tony fed-ex'd PCR tubing yesterday.  Arrived today.
  • SPE heater elements had to be sent back to company for thermal-conductive adhesive, which they forgot to apply.

Software

  • Communications w/ Bruce are intermittent.  Should check buoy for kelp and/or position
  • Mack showing large dB loss in its communication.  Brent suggests we take off some of coiled cable in roof antenna to give us a few dB more signal.
  • Brent to work with Roman to re-structure ESPshare for better file arrangement.
  • A newer version of the 'notifier' software will queue both good and bad news and hold in queue until sent.

DWSM

  • Doug will finish bell housing designs, have them reviewed internally, and send to El Camino for quote
  • Finish designs of mag coupling pressure shrouds.  We will manufacture here
  • Finish design on swiss cheese plates
  • order valves
  • high-pressure motor should arrive next week

Other Items

  •  Chris S. has noticed that during this network deployment, images on Bruce consistently coming in dimmer than Mack, even though both have identical reagents.  We believe images were the same before deployment.  Scott thinks it could be due to differences in camera electronics due to the cold.
  • CDR continuation:  DWSM electronics and software CDR will be Weds. July 9.  Invitations will be sent to Tom O., Mike Risi, Kevin G. Doug Au, Ed M., Chad K., Paul Mcgill.
  • Scott still needs to do preliminary design of ROV mate-able interface and pressure board so plenty of work before CDR.
  • Bruce/MACK recover is Monday, June 30.
  • RE: newer chips. 35 of 52 dwarf boards will be populated with old controller chip, the remaining boards will have that position left empty should we decide to  upgrade

Congratulations to everybody on a great deployment.  We have three working instruments, two in the water for over 2 weeks, and much science data to chew on from this successful engineering effort.
