Machine Builds

• Gordon and Betty.  Cheri predicts 3 weeks to finish if hands don't give her too many problems
  • Maxon stopped making old motors, and these new ones (with mylar cable) produce much less torque.  Maybe windings are for higher voltage.  Cheri will test.  We currently have 1 old motor and 3 new ones.
  • We ordered 2 more harmonic drives.  Moe has GG's lower hand and it will need to be changed out

• HV pucks.  Tops have been machined.  Doug or machine shop can turn spacers.  Cannot get different softness of o-rings from McMaster, although Chris doesn't think we need different ones.

MFB

• 3 MFB's have been shipped to McLane for build.
• Spoke with LLNL yesterday.  John promised 2 modules by March 20 (2009).  Then 4 by end of April, then 4 remaining 'after' that.  New modules have different firmware (v 4.04 vs 4.03), so we'll have to get our two switched eventually.  New firmware expands the data buffer and has better error handling.

Drifter

• Gene out today.  Wayne will start communications testing next week.  Not using TCP, so this might be a problem.  Will go with freewave modems (not iridium) and GPS for the drifter deployments.

Software

•  Bruce has been running the new software off the network for several weeks with no problems.  Monday Brent will burn this software into Bruce's flash, and we'll start exercising it as a local machine.
• Much discussion about Bufflehead being full and Chris P losing data.  We need a science data-manager (John Ryan?).  Currently need to delete old stuff.
• Today, Brent will backup and delete stuff older than 1 year.
• Jim will go to IS to see if we can get more space on the ESPshare, although cost may be prohibitive.

Deep ESP

Sphere

• Paul Coenen continues with wiring.
• Vicor mounting brackets are finished.  Assembly continues

Elevator

• elevator is back from LA, but there may be some distortion.  Doug going out for a look this PM.
• We can finish elevator construction with Mike Conway and Paul Coenen.
• Scott will move foam and other crated sphere half out of parking lot and into bldg D.

DWSM

• Switch boards are finished and we'll give to Wayne after this meeting so he can test his dPress code.  Then we can put bags in oil.
• High pressure pump.  Still waiting for return from Emeryville.  4500psi will get us to 3000m.  We have a fall-back site if we need to go to only 1800m.
  • During the 'repair', some parts were re-machined, thus we hope that fixed things.  We will tighten bolts on current pump we have hoping that will stop back-flow above 2000psi.
  • If nothing works, our options are to go to shallower sites where not as much pressure is needed.

GUI

•  Brian has begun work on image analysis software.  Working with Nilo.
• Rich coming back to project to work on parsing data files.

Deployment Issues

•  April 1-28 surface deployment using BRUCE.  Roman will get divers and is leading this Zephyr deployment.  Will use NEWEST mooring.  Brent/Cheri will work on radio testing.  Scott will get Jose's group to ohm-out E/M cable.
• April 7, 14, May 1 -- Deep ESP tests using MACK (with new low-temp syringe plungers).
• May 12-June 11 surface deployment using MOE w/PCR (if ready).
