Drifter
- Pre-Flyer cruise dive days on the Zephyr have been pushed back to May 26 and May 28
- Gene will be in Test Tank Monday/Tuesday
- Ordering radar reflector. Have blinky light. PPP is running via wire. Scott will set-up Freewave's
- If time, will pull Iridium off an existing surface mooring and mount on Drifter.
Software
- Brent's been working on HP pump. It seems to run either full on or off. Difficult to run it at other than 2000rpm. He has a was to work servo control with this constraint.
- Next is to characterize the differential pressure sensors then
- run sample fluid through the core loop
- Noticed that TSV seems to get off by 7-9 counts when you power cycle. Scott will watch while they try and re-create.
- Discussion about making the laptop on the boat a 'slave' to the shorestation, so missions can be started right on the boat (boat laptop-
> shore station->ESP buoy) instead of having to rely on someone on the shore.
Deep ESP
- Will talk to Science about needs for a metal wand to withstand high temperatures at Axial. Otherwise, with current design, the end of the 'wand' is actually a solenoid valve.
- Doug showed valve design to Brent and explained function.
- Must get Science buy-in about wand idea, but in the meantime we will push forward with this design.

Deployment Issues
- Two potential sites to visit in June:
- #1. 2900m [36.61N, 122.44W]. Flat, open, clear water. Nearby clam-field.
- #2. 1800m [36.71N, 122.1W]. Flat, poorer visibility. very old whale-fall.
- Much discussion of which site. Consensus was that August cruise is most critical (depths of 1400-1600m), thus site #2 would provide adequate testing for August without undue risk.
- A very rough deployment schedule was discussed. Leave MBARI @ 11am on Friday, June 5, return Tuesday, June 9. Chris and I will meet with ship crew 10am (Tank View) Tuesday to discuss.
- 4K ISUS mtg Tuesday @ 11--Tank View. Will meet with Luke, John R., and science.
