ESP Engineering weekly mtg (11-15-2007)

Tech Transfer
•    Still on track to have 2 instruments wired & plumbed by Thanksgiving?
2 units almost completely wired (boards/valves/motors).  End of day both powered.  Plumbing parts in yesterday and will continue this afternoon.  Do 2 units first then retrofit Neo.

•    Hand/puck sticking issue?  (still working on)  New hand design?(getting close, tackled pivot-point and the cam,  but still figuring how to support forearm pulley so belt can be fully loaded)

•    Science getting to use yet?
Using GG. Don't need Neo

•    Time for delivery of new motors/brackets?
Still waiting on brackets (Mike supposed ot have sent PO to El Camino yesterday) and motors (due end Nov).

•    Other issues

If some grants come in, we will have many instruments needed around the country.  Chris is pushing for building all three (don't leave one as parts).  In the near future we will need another production run and should keep in mind parts for the future.

Software
•    Progress in Tracing of log comments?
•    Bob Herlien progress on MFB drivers?
•    Rich Schramm progress on GUI?
•    JIRA implementation

MFB
•    Results from Tues/Weds and subsequent plan going forward
•    Solid-Phase-Extraction status
•    CAV (AIV) valve arrival?
•    Overall parts inventory; do we have everything we need?

Building slug on bench then pulling through the ARV and running in the MFB heater and collecting it after and looking at peak fluorescence and run on gel.  WE HAVE AMPLIFICATION.  Solutions seems to be due to better cleanliness and care in handling reagents.  Optics within the LLNL heater block do not appear to be working properly.  Today will actually build the slug from the ARV and then repeat yesterday's successful procedure.  If successful, will add ATV and repeat.  Chris P. has ordered more fluorescent dye.  When it arrives we will do a final test of the optics ourselves before we (most likely) must send the block back to LLNL.

4K issues

•    BOM for sphere, fittings, elevator, all accessories still being formulated.  Plan to meet with Chris S., Scott, Jim next Tuesday to discuss BOM of 4k and DWSM
