Absent: Scott, Addie (maternity)
Machine Builds
- Ivory from McLane arrives Monday for final week of ESP core assembly.
- modification on high-volume puck are finished. Doug has turned over to Chris and they are now waiting to be tested.
- Must order more scintered frits. Jim will take care of.
- PUCK ETCHING
- Brent has info from a company for bar-coding pucks. Jim can investigate.
- El Camino may be able to etch future pucks while in lathe. Check with Mike Parker.
- our next puck order will include many more high-volume pucks. We need an inventory of all pucks ; how many of what types?
- soon we will lose 2 cores: 1 to SC, 1 to WHOI, and each will take a set of pucks out of our inventory.
MFB
- shop is slammed with work. Cheri coordinating with Mike about getting final 3 sets of MFB parts finished before shipping to McLane
Software
- Brent has been able to scrounge cables and laptops.
- Ruby control of DWSM has begun
- NEO code vs. all other cores:
-
- AIV valve: it's very easy to change ports on valves, but not easy to change what channel the valve is on.
- Decision is to keep NEO in 'lab-mode' until Chris P gets through her testing, but then upgrade to make compliant with other cores.
- IRIDIUM modem on drifter. Is Gene using same modem as on MOOS? If so, no problem.
- dPress board review next weds @ 10am.
DWSM
Sphere
- Still in parking deck. Will be moved to tin-shed by facilities people.
- Doug to look into purchase of a (folding?) engine hoist for moving stuff within the van.
- Doug has designed center spider hanger cage for holding ESP core within the sphere. Parts to get to the shop today.
Elevator
- We've decided the modem to purchase (w/ deckbox). Will cost $27K. Will charge to 900915.99. 10-week lead time, although this isn't needed until June.
- Because of g-loads during a drop, Doug has done some mod's to the design and will work on some Jeep-Bumper-like landing feet.
- Foam coming in tomorrow or early next week. Will be machined down the street at a boat shop

- We need an ESP stencil to mark the foam
DWSM
- Bad pump has been sent back and will be repaired/replaced.
- Scott/Doug discovered they can't get enough power through the motor controller
- might got to two power supplies in series
- Scott working on board to make this work
- Brent should be cc'd on all this correspondence.
- Doug predicts that they should be pushing water and oil by middle of next week.
Other Items:
- Refrigerated van has been ordered and will arrive next Tues/Weds (Feb 24/25). Call had gone in to Greg Voogd about setting up electrical hook-up. We will wait for Danny Day to do wiring, using extension cords if necessary for lighting. Once van here, we'll convene on where wiring/lights should be installed.
- Chris S. wants a NASA sticker on the side of the van
- Science deployment on Zephyr, April 1.
-
- Will deploy BRUCE
- Team will be: Roman M: lead, Chris P: scripts & mission planning, John Ryan: ISUS, Cheri and Wayne will work comms and mooring mechanics, Jose: batteries.
- Before this deployment, we will switch over to locked version of the new code. Recently Bruce has been run with new code (off the network), but still has last deployment code locally. Brent will today load new code on locally, so much exercise can occur before April 1 deployment.
- Self-organizing TWIC teams are forming. Wayne, Chris S, and Scott are going up together.
- Teams need to be decided for two Flyer deployments: June 5-9 and Aug 15-27. Look at ship schedules to get exact dates. We want to arrive the day before the MOB day, and figure on returning home the day after reaching port.
