Machine Builds

• Scintered frits to arrive March 25.  Chris S. says no problem as they will not be used in April 1 deployment.
• Cold-rated 25ml syringe leaks when at 4C.  GG's DID work at 4C so we could try it.  Scott playing phone-tag back and fort with company.
• New CPLD code has been loaded into MACK; it will get 'exercised' by engineering while we fiddle with the core...

MFB

• MFB's rec'd at McLane.  Ivory is checking them out.  No word on build dates.
• LLNL contacted about their first delivery of modules (supposedly on the 20th).

Drifter

• Decision is to use Freewave modems.  Will use our current radio box, which also contains GPS
• Foam arrives 1st week of April.  THEN we can start superstructure build.
• Cable drum is taking time to build.  Will be ready late March/early April.
• Currently electronics are giving problems--fried UART?  Gene to work with Wayne.  He also needs ME Tech time.

Software

•  Brent still to get the PCR module version to LLNL.
• we now have 50GB on the ESPShare--should last 1 year.
• Bruce seems to be running fine as a local machine (since Monday)

Deep ESP

Sphere

• Paul C and Tom M are currently wiring sphere bottom

Elevator

• elevator fits sphere
• feet still to be installed
• foam being added to top today/tomorrow
• drop weight assembly still to be designed and manufactured
• Acoustic acoutrements on elevator: We'll use a pinger (we'll borrow, unless we want a more powerful one than we can borrow; then we'll buy), and another for data-transfer and release.

DWSM

• Doug able to manually create 4500psi on repaired pump.  It is now installed into DWSM
• hold-up on DWSM is wiring the switch assembly; Scott to get etechs on this
• Doug has lots of loose ends to finish
• dPress CPLD; faults because switches are not 'sticky'.  Wayne thinks it's software and will fix today.  There have been some mechanical problems getting the switches to switch.
• Ruby code for DWSM.  Brent will write something that will perform the tests we want to perform for this first deployment.  Doug and he will talk mon/tues; we'll have a group mtg Weds to discuss the finalized testing.

GUI

• Comments from Kevin:
  • Rich and I sat down at got back working on the ESP log changes.  We checked out the most recent code and got everything building and are generating missions with the GUI and running them on Rich's machine (in simulation).  We are now looking back at the previous code changes Rich made and migrating them to the new code base to meet our needs for log entries. Brian is working on ESP image analysis. He has been focusing on Fourier-Mellin Transform (essentially FFT cross-correlation in log-polar space) but is not convinced it will work for the spot images. He's implemented the polar and log-polar transforms for images though, which will be useful for other image-registration techniques.  He is exploring another method that looks more promising now ...

Deployment Issues

•  April 1 Surface.  Roman will test radio
• New batteries already installed for GPS.
• Monday mooring will be moved to high bay.  Much discussion about checking the radio and radio-link to Abe's house.  Brent and Scott have a plan that will minimize Brent's time yet test all systems before deployment.
• Brent fixed our shore station at Abe's house by replacing their power supply wall wart.
• For the engineering test dives for D-ESP, we need to set up target sites for all dives.  First one (April 7) will be 800-900m near MARS.
• Chris Grech has some operational questions related to the northern expedition RE: getting equipment up there and what people will need.  Clague responded and Chris S. will forward that response to the team for further comment.

Other Items:

•  Discussion about ethernet hub in van.  Will probably mount a 5-port hub on the wall.  Still being discussed.
• Wayne, Scott, Chris S gone next Tuesday for TWIC card #1 visit.
• Northern expedition will require us to truck up our van, loaded with all our stuff.  Logistics for this should be contemplated.
