Status update

GUI is being used for planning and some data processing. The log file parsing is creating all kinds of issues with application deployment due to the Ruby requirements. Brent is OK with changing to log file to allow us to rip out the Ruby stuff which should fix deployment issues.

Log file processing

Brent was OK with us putting in log entries however we wanted. He will be tagging all log entries with an epoch seconds offset from a base timestamp further up the log file. That should work OK because we can put fully atomic log entries in our entries. Rich will work on the ruby code and Kevin will work on the GUI to consume those. Not sure how we will implement, integrate and test the changes. Kevin will talk to Brent.

Image analysis

Brian will be working on the ESP stuff in March and he wanted to make sure that it is known that he may only get to a point where he understands the problem based on the days he was given. He currently has software that will find spots and calculate intensity. He can find and label spots with intensity.

The issue is taking the report from the filter paper print job and align the image with that map. Once this is done, the rest should move forward, but this alignment, scaling, rotation is the key issue. There are products out there that do this type of analysis, but they are commercial and proprietary.

The goal of this work will be to have an image in the GUI with the spot map overlayed and a key that has the various spots and their labels with their intensity. This could then all be saved off to a text file for analysis/import.

4. Starting in March, Brian will work on image software.
