Schedule Items 

• Middle of September; Japanese visitor to work on MFB.
• End of Sept for ~3 months;  Allison Haywood (New Zealand) to work on a core.
• October deployment:
  • Using Shanna Rae;  MOB on October 8 (Weds), deploy October 9 (Thurs).
  • there are enough ISUS's for deployment;  must test all.

Machine Builds

• Gripper boards are out for fabrication
• Puck sensor boards (10 made) have been modified and Scott is testing on GG in the fridge.  Preliminary results look good at ambient (+/- 1 degree difference from ambient; off 3 degrees at 5d C).
• Mack and Bruce being used (today) by SC group.  Should be ready for October deployment with a simple reagent refill.
• Boards:
  • 50 Dwarf / 10 Sleepy / 50 R-valve boards are in.  Each needs a QC checkout which Dick started on 20Aug2008.
• Much discussion on the number of boards and the NEXT round of builds; could/should we do a board/camera redesign?
• Wiring harnesses are in and QC'd.  Many assembled into their 'super-harnesses'.
• Still waiting on small machine parts from El Camino
• Installation of tubing on Moe is next; should take 1 week.  Still need to mount AIV on Moe, which was originally scavenged for Neo.  Cheri predicts 3-4 weeks before Science gets Moe for check-out.
• Cheri will get Mike going on the small hand pieces for Moe's manipulator.

Rough calculations on Mooring Cost:

   Materials/Radios/machined parts/cables/bungee/all parts == $50K + 2 mo's labor

 MFB

• Grill is working! as are PCR scripts
• SPE script is close but syringe continues to have trajectory errors.  Much discussion on how to address.  Decision to run overnight to 'break-in' and see if sticktion issues are still a problem at slow speeds tomorrow.  If that doesn't fix it, we can either gear down motor (but this has problems; fast moves would be slow, mechanical advantage makes it more likely to break something if valve gets stuck), or find a more compatible plunger/barrel combination.
• Stand-alone power boards not yet begun (Scott).
• Go/no-go on PCR for October deployment depends on how PCR does in cold.
• Mechanical changes for NEO to accomodate grill are finished, but scripts need testing.  PCR/core group will meet today at 2:00pm to discuss integration.

Software

• Antenna at Novin's (Sunset Dr, Watsonville).  Brent and Wayne going out today to scout and sign agreement w/ homowner.
• DWSM code
  • starting to test limit-switches; development of this code is on-going
  • DWSM code is to a state where we could start testing if we had an instrument.
• Brent mentioned that if the new puck thermal-sensor is super-accurate, then maybe no calibration is needed (the preferred method).  Perhaps insulating sensor may add to it's stability/accuracy.
• Brent fixed a core bug.  The handling of background threads by using the 'stop' command now works.

DWSM

•  Doug spoke with El Camino regarding DWSM parts.  Bell housing should finish this week, anodized next week.
• No DMO discussion yet on weight balance/elevator design
• Min-Cons to be ordered by Scott;  may take awhile because made of titanium (or 'ti-dized')
• Pressure testing;  Initially, we do NOT need to got to 4Km, thus we will send/take sphere to Port Hueneme for testing.
