Machine Builds

• Weeks of Feb 8 and Feb 23 are on for the McLane core builds.  Chris S. will confirm with Tim.

MFB

•  Cheri will be finished with core kitting by Friday.  Then its on to MFB kitting.  Goal is to send to McLane by Feb 8.  McLane will do tubing cutting.  We will update this schedule the 1st week of Feb.

Software

•  New Ruby patch (R7) has checked out on Moe.  Next Thursday will install on Mack/Bruce/Neo.
• Brent's Ruby patches have been adopted by the gods of Ruby, the Japanese. (This is a big deal, that he should bring to his 2009 review!)
• New puck handling code will be installed with the R7 patch.  Now the hand will move a little closer to the pucks when positioned over the carousel to make sure the hand closes on the puck.
• Brent is modifying the log file formats so less CPU time is spent parsing the date /time stamps.  He explains this here.
• It was decided that Rich Schramm, working in the Ruby data-management end of things will create branches in CVS, checkout code and test and then merge back in.  Kevin will direct this.
• Wayne has found Dwarf code problem.  He's getting different checksum numbers, depending on his build platform.  He and Brent will devise some tests to determine where problem lies.

DWSM

• Will ask Cindy to organize trip to SWRI

Elevator

•  Mike P. still working on drawings, but unknown progress
• John Erickson still analyzing frame, but coming up with screwy numbers; model may be wrong.
• FOAM:  Trellenberg being difficult and now saying delivery is March 30-April3.  We have several workaround options:
  • Mike Conway says they (DMO) have 12 ft^3 (or more) of 34lb foam we may be able to use
  • This amount may only allow 4 batteries and maybe no CTD
  • Could supplement with glass spheres, but there is a 6-8 wk lead and possible redesign of float housing to accommodate.
  • DECISION:
    • Will use 'Mike" foam and supplement with FOCE foam or use some of Ken Smith's 40lb foam.
• Modem on elevator:  nice to have so we can ping without having ROV to plug in.  Deck boxes; who has them--we may need to purchase.

DWSM

• Have been running pumps and looks like we will be able to get 6000psi out of them.
• Intake exhaust is running--energy draw is within design limits
• CABLES--critical path issue.  8 week lead time from Seaconn;  Scott trying to push them, especially on terminations, but they are rigid in time estimate.  Unclear if the 8 weeks is with or without terminations.  Will keep checking in with them.

Other Items:

•  For March and April sphere deployments, we will use MACK.  In May will decide which core to mount with PCR.
• Chris thinking about purchase of 4000m Spectra line for better positioning of D-ESP during deployment.  Question is whether winch on Flyer can handle the heave loads, yet to be calculated.
• We need both Teflon retainers and snap O-rings.  Science wants the manufacture/drawing #'s for these.  Will attend to when we all return.
• Chris has found the High Volume pucks.  Doug has good idea for easy modification.  When we return, will start process for ordering 20um, 10um, and 0.1um scintered frits.  these will be tested in spring/summer surface deployments.
• We need new types of battery connectors on surface can lids.  Scott to scope options.
