Deployment Update

  • Jim Crisman has moved up his available dates.  Means we must MOB Tuesday (Oct 7) and deploy Weds (Oct 8).
    • M0--Bruce with new CTD
    • M0--Neo with old CTD and ISUS
    • SC--Mack with old CTD and ISUS
  • Will run room-temp big pahse (PCR w/ LAF Bac concurrently) this afternoon.  This is the PCR + WCR phase; 20+ hrs.
  • Brent still working on  PCR/BAC integration
  • For the entire deployment, NEO is doing only PCR/WCR and BAC/WCR
  • Discussed the schedule (27th would be + cold, 28th would be - cold, 29th would be + cold)
  • Running in cold we will use it in box, w/ ISUS and old CTD.

Machine Builds

  • Doug assembled harmonic drive on lathe for 'perfect' alignment.  Power comparison to be performed this afternoon.  We may have to redesign this with 2-shafted harmonic drive which will necessitate a different motor mount for the elbow joint.
  • Puck temperature sensor on Moe-need more of them.  Jim Montgomery can do this.  Mounts for these are old--we need the newer sliding mounts.
  • Ball screws-NOOK only made rev. D, which, according to our drawings WAS too small for us, but these seem as tight as the rev. E.  Unclear what drawings they have (they say they've always built to rev. D drawings), so we must be very explicit in future orders-put rev on PO and call them for verbal confirmation.
  • Dwarf Boards:
    • have tested 15 of 35
    • curious:  after hand is closed, we still have voltage to the gripper drive.  Must look into this after deployment.
    • Will be finished by end of next week.

MFB

  • Syringe has been losing it's encoder position and over-filling until it hits the hard stop and overcurrents.  First time, it pulled black plunger end off.  Syringe has now been replaced and recalibrated.
  • Still don't know reason; maybe losing encoder counts (9-30: yes--bug in Xylinx upgrade software seems to cause it; have reverted to older version and problem is gone)

Software

  • New CTD's have different firmware.  Nontrivial.
  • CS syringe on NEO has been changed
  • Bruce--got stuck last night.  Anytime tried to move a syringe or valve it hangs.  It waits for a thread that's already dead.
  • Mack--PS and clamp got corrupted (overcurrent errors).  Sent out a 'recover' and it fixed it.
  • Can't seem to FTP into shore station from his house
  • Radio tests worked well, but while one file is uploading, link is monopolized (we can't talk to the other machines)
  • Will give radio's to Jose
  • Home syringe has been renamed.
  • Firmware code still not frozen until Brent fixes: 1.  Recover from hang due to dead thread, 2. Link protocols fixed, 3. CTD changes made

DWSM

  • Sphere on lathe at Tapemation
  • Bulk-heads (swiss cheese plates) awaiting their turn in our shop
  • Doug has some parts to be made; will give to Larry or Jose

GUI Development

  •  Kevin working with Chris Preston on the new 'killer' mission planning app
  • data analysis software being worked up right now.

Other Items:

Container:
  • We will PURCHASE a container, but defer to future.  Container information is here
Build Schedule:
  •  Doug unsure if we will be ready for deep ESP testing in first week of January.  Issue is that they are setting Lobos days for 2009, and we are slated for 5 days; they want us to take  4 days in Q1 and Q2, and they'll through in the 5th somewhere.  We need a schedule from Doug on how the D-ESP testing will proceed with the ship days.  Original plan was to start with passing fluid through the sphere, working toward a WF deployment before the big Axial trip.  Doug should get a WAG schedule by end of day.
