Instrument Builds

• South Carolina person here August 20-29 to run Mack & Bruce (Tina Mukulsky (sp?))
•  Temp re-calibrations of Mack finished and has updated firmware
• Bruce has 2 of 3 calibrations; will be finished by end of the day
• Roman will help with verification check.
• Scott will spearhead effort to get 3 new radio boxes built

UPDATE:  Friday, a combination of issues caused puck-temp sensors to be torn from their mounts, so machines will be recalibrated beginning Monday.

• Mooring update:
  • Scholfield is leading the charge on building the 3rd mooring
  • We need to order 1100 D-cell alkalines.  Scott needs charge number 

MFB

• cables are finished
• software integration moving along nicely
• grill is very close to being operational.  Still waiting on SPE heater from Mike and the LLNL PCR block.
• Need Scott to integrate SPE heater onto the heater board
• We should think of insulating the SPE block

DWSM

• Sphere update--point cloud has been provided by Tapemation
  • issue is how to cut
• Ti screws might be very expensive for the size we want.  Doug exploring helicoils as good alternative.  Decision needs to be made before Tapemation begins machining.
• Bell Housing needed slight modification since part ordered by El Camino was too short.  Other parts are now in machine shopl
• Doug wants to try and do swiss cheese plate in-house.
• Most COTS parts are here--still need Mini-Con's, Swageloc, various connectors/cables
• Electronics--Boards laid out;  Scott wants miniEE review late next week
• Note about elevator assembly-- want to be able to open and 'get at' sphere

• Kevin estimates $10K for machine-state visualization software
• Brent wants to test limit switches--can do w/ stuff on his desk
• Still must do radio test--configuration with 3 radios
• Brent found another antenna place
  • we will draw up a 'contract' detaling time, it's our stuff, we'd pay for his cable, give notice of renewal--Jim to work with Brent on this.
