Subject: ESP GUI/DM: things to track/extract from log
Hi all -

Following up on lat Wed's mtg, here's a list of things we need to track from the log file.  Please provide input as to whether I covered it all or missed something.

My understanding is that the idea of tracking actual volumes of reagents consumed based on the instrument log will be deferred to a later date.  Instead, we will first predict what was expended based on executing particular protocols (based on our reagent spreadsheet, e.g.).

Firstly, there are a few protocols missing from the phases as we reviewed last Wed.  In addtion to the SH1, Lyfil, etc., there are also various types of purges (initial and final flushes, and intake line beaching. I think flush fluids for 'sample pass' protocols are accounted for in lyfil, but we should ck to make sure).  We need to list these so we have have a more complete representation of the various phases we run.  This will also help (force!) us to review our use of flush, since our current spreadsheet does not acct for the full vol of flush used.  Adding in the appropriate purges and versions thereof should complete the picture.

From the log, as an e.g. for a standard phase that uses initial purge, sh1, lyfil, sh2, wcr and final purge, we'd track:

1) phase start time

2) st/end of initial purge (what version, if there is one).

3) st of sh1 (protocol for sample collection/homogenization)

4) st time of actual sample collection for sh1

5) end time of sample collection for sh1

6) vol of sample collected

7) end of sh1

8) st of sh2 protocol (generally preceeds end of sh1)

9) st of wcr (generally preceeds end of 2)

10)  st time of actual sample collection for wcr

11) end time of sample collection for wcr

12) array images (generally  >1 and >1 resolution/binning, exposure times)

13)  end of sh2

14) end of wcr

15) st/end of final purge (what version, if there is one)

16) phase end time

What have I missed? I can see value in tracking things like internal temp and battery voltage (ESP, context sensors too?) at the st and end of phase as well.
