Restmill Toolpaths

The Surface Rough Restmill toolpaths remove stock left where the tool did not fit or where the tool could not go. For example, if the minimum radius of an entry helix is too big to fit in an area, Mastercam skips that area. Such an area would be cleaned up with a smaller roughing tool.

Surface Rough Restmill toolpaths clean up remaining stock with planar (constant Z) cutting motion, using multiple Z cuts to remove the remaining stock. To create the toolpath, select Mill toolpaths, Surface rough, Restmill from the right-click menu in Toolpaths Manager.

Several 3D toolpaths also include restmill machining strategies. These let you take advantage of Mastercam's high-speed toolpath motion. These include Area Roughing toolpaths and Dynamic OptiRough toolpaths. For these toolpaths, use the Stock page to select and configure the rest milling strategy.
