Analyze Contour dialog box
Use the Analyze Contour dialog box to analyze all the entities in one or more chained curves. The curves can contain lines, arcs, or points (no splines). You can analyze either 2D or 3D contours. For 2D contours, you can analyze a contour which is offset from the chained curve, and which uses cornering options, simulating a simple contour toolpath.
Mastercam displays the analyzed information in a text viewer when you close the dialog box. Before saving the file to a specified location, you can view and edit the data or add comments, as necessary.
2D
Analyzes the selected chains for 2D data.
3D
Analyzes the selected chains for 3D data
None
Extends each entity in the boundary to maintain a connection at adjacent endpoints when you offset the boundary outward, which results in gaps between the entities.
Sharp
Inserts an arc at each sharp corner in the boundary when you offset the boundary outward, which results in gaps between the entities.
All
Inserts an arc at each corner in the boundary when you offset the boundary outward, which results in gaps between the entities
Offset direction
Sets the direction to offset the boundary. Choose one of the following:
- Off: Does not offset the boundary, regardless of the Offset distance.
- Left: Offsets the boundary to the left (relative to the chaining direction) by the Offset distance.
- Right: Offsets the boundary to the right (relative to the chaining direction) by the Offset distance.
Offset distance
Sets the distance to offset the boundary.
Infinite look ahead
Searches the entire boundary for locations where the boundary self-intersects based on the offset distance and offset direction. When this option is selected, Mastercam adjusts the offset boundary to prevent self-intersections, where possible.
