Analyze Distance dialog box
Use the Analyze Distance dialog box to analyze the distance between the following:
- Two entities (including solid edges)
- Two point positions
- An entity and a point
Mastercam determines the distance by creating a theoretical line between the selected items. When you select two points, the above properties appear in editable fields. When you select an entity and a point, only the point position is editable. The minimum distance and XYZ delta values (differences) between the selected points or entities always display in view-only fields.
Using the Units and Precision fields, you can display the dialog box's values in various formats. To specify default settings for the Units and Precision options, please refer to the Analyze page of the System Configuration dialog box.
This function does not create geometry or update the properties of the selected entities.
You can set the defaults for some of these parameters on the Analyze page of the System Configuration dialog box.
X / Y /Z Endpoint coordinates
Defines the XYZ coordinates of the corresponding distance line endpoint. Coordinates in the left column define the first endpoint (start point) that was specified when the distance line was created; those in the right column define the distance line's second endpoint. You can modify a point position by entering different X, Y, and/or Z values in the text boxes. Coordinates of selected entity positions cannot be edited.
Angle
Defines the angle of the theoretical distance line relative to the horizontal axis of the current construction plane. Displayed values range from positive (counterclockwise rotation) to negative (clockwise rotation) 360 degrees. If the distance line connects two point positions, you can modify its angle by entering a different value in the text box.
3D length
Defines the actual distance between the two endpoints of the theoretical distance line. If the distance line connects two point positions, you can modify its length by entering a different value in the text box.
2D length
Defines the distance determined by projecting the 3D length onto the current Cplane. If the distance line connects two point positions, you can modify its length by entering a different value in the text box.
X / Y / Z Delta
Displays the X, Y, and Z delta values (differences) between the distance line's endpoints. Delta fields dynamically update whenever you change the first or second endpoint positions, angle, or 2D/3D Length.
Units
Specifies the measurement units used to display values in the dialog box. You can choose from the following:
- Inches
- Feet Inches Decimal
- Feet Inches Fractional
- Millimeters
- Centimeters
- Meters
Precision
Specifies the numerical precision with which values are displayed in the dialog box.
