Surface Properties dialog box

Use the Surface Properties dialog box to view properties and edit attributes for the following surface entity types:

  • Parametric
  • NURBS
  • Trimmed NURBS
  • Revolved
  • Ruled
  • Offset NURBS
  • Draft
  • Fillet

The specific surface properties dialog box name reflects the type of surface selected, for example: Parametric Surface, NURBS Surface, Trimmed NURBS Surface.

NOTE

Depending on the surface type, some of the following options may not be available.

3D length

Read-only. Displays the actual length of the selected draft surface.

Angle

Read-only. Displays the angle, or degree of tilt, applied to the selected draft surface. Values range from positive to negative 180 degrees (+/- 180°). Mastercam calculates the angle relative to the perpendicular drafting direction. A draft angle of zero degrees produces no tilt and is the equivalent of a perpendicular extrusion.

Boundaries

Read-only. Displays the number of inner and outer boundaries contained in a trimmed NURBS surface.

Boundary points

Read-only. Displays the total number of positions used to define the trimming boundaries in a trimmed NURBS surface.

Contours

Read-only. Displays the number of cross contours in a ruled surface.

Control points

Read-only. Displays the number of control points that define the selected NURBS surface.

Degree

Read-only. Displays the mathematical degree of the selected spline or surface (parametric or NURBS). For example, a linear curve has a degree of 1, a simple quadratic curve like an arc or ellipse has a degree of 2, a bicubic surface has a degree of 3 x 3.

End angle

Read-only. Displays the angle at which Mastercam finishes creating the surface.

Offset distance

Read-only. Displays the distance used to offset the selected surface from its parent surface.

Patches

Read-only. Displays the number of patches that comprise the selected parametric surface.

Radius

Read-only. Displays the radius that defines the center curve of the selected fillet surface.

Start angle

Read-only. Displays the angle at which Mastercam begins creating the selected surface.

Sweep

Read-only. Displays the total angle described by the surface from its start angle to its end angle.

Total curves

Read-only. Displays the number of linearly blended curves contained in a ruled surface.

Flip normal

Reverses the surface positive normal direction.

Level

Enter a number in the field to assign a level to the selected entity, or click to display the Levels Manager.

Color

Enter a number in the field to assign a color to the selected entity, or click to display the Colors dialog box.

Style

Select a new line style from the drop-down.

Width

Select a new line width from the drop-down.

Association

Opens the Associations dialog box. This dialog box lists all geometry, planes, dimensions, 3D annotations, and operations that are associated with the selected entity.

Propagate

Only available when multiple entities are selected or when attributes are changed. Click to apply attribute changes to all selected entities.
