Trimmed dialog box
Use the Trimmed dialog box to create a Trim operation, which trims an existing toolpath to one or more closed boundaries that you select.
First, select the source operations to be trimmed from the large window. Then, choose the trimming plane. To set the trimming plane, click T/C plane, and select the desired construction plane in the Toolpath Coordinate System dialog box. (You do not need to do this if the trimming geometry and toolpath are already in the same construction plane.)
The Trimming geometry section lets you change or re-select the bias point you were prompted to select before this dialog box appeared. Use the bias point to tell Mastercam which portions of the toolpath you want to keep relative to the boundaries.
Use the Tool Up/Down option to tell Mastercam whether or not to retract the tool when it reaches a boundary.
- If you select Keep tool up, the tool rapids to the retract or clearance height and then rapids to the next intersection point, where it approaches the part again.
- If you select Keep tool down, the tool does not retract, but it might violate the trimming boundary.
Operations to trim
Select one or more operations from the list to trim.
Bias point
Returns you to the graphics window to select a point. The system preserves the toolpath on the same side of the trimming boundary as the point you select. This initially displays the coordinates of the point Mastercam prompted you to select when you first created the toolpath.
Keep tool up
Raises the tool to the current rapid depth at each intersection of the toolpath.
Keep tool down
Forces the tool to stay down at each intersection of the toolpath. This option may cause the trimming function to travel through some trimming boundaries.
Comment
Enter a text comment for the operation.
To batch
Adds the current operation to a batch file for processing at a later time. If you select this option, the toolpath is added to the Toolpaths Manager, but an NCI file is not generated until the batch is run. When you select a Mastercam file for batch processing, all operations marked for batch processing are automatically loaded into the batch operations list.
T/C planes
Opens the Toolpath Coordinate System dialog box so that you can select or change the construction plane that the selected operations are trimmed to. For best results, the selected construction plane and the operations' tool planes should be parallel.
