Compensation page
Use this page to:
- Set the compensation method by which Mastercam offsets the wire from the wirepath.
- Choose to offset the wire to the right or left of the wirepath.
- Eliminate arcs in the wirepath that are less than or equal to the radius of the wire.
- Insert arc moves around corners in the wirepath.
- Set Mastercam to check for and eliminate unwanted intersections in the wirepath.
Compensation type
Choose the method by which Mastercam offsets the wire from the wirepath.
- Computer: Computes the compensated wirepath and does not output control codes for compensation.
- Control: Outputs control codes for compensation and does not compute the compensated wirepath.
- Both: Computes the compensated wirepath and outputs control codes for compensation. Compensation direction in the computer and control are the same.
- Reverse both: Computes the compensated wirepath and outputs control codes for compensation. Compensation direction in the computer and control are opposite each other.
- Off : No wire offset. Computes the wirepath with the wire cutting the geometry.
Compensation direction
Choose to offset the wire to the right or left of the wirepath. Auto sets the compensation direction depending on the location of the thread point inside or outside of the contour.
Optimize
Eliminates arcs in the wirepath that are less than or equal to the radius of the wire.
Infinite look ahead
Checks for wirepath self-intersections along the entire contour before creating the wirepath. If Mastercam Wire finds a wirepath intersection, it modifies the wirepath so that it does not cut the portion of the part that comes after the intersection.
Roll around corners
Inserts arc moves around corners in the wirepath. The radius of the arc moves equals the radius of the wire. Select None to guarantee all sharp corners, Sharp to only roll the wire around sharp corners (135 degrees or less), or All to roll the wire around all corners.
