Rast2Vec dialog box
Use the Rast2Vec dialog box to choose a method and define parameters for converting a raster graphic file into a vector file.
Once the conversion is performed, you can adjust smoothing and (for splines) other attributes of the geometry before finalizing it.
Filename
Displays the path and name of the selected raster file to convert. Select Browse to choose a different file.
Resolution DPI
Sets the resolution (in dots per inch) for the final geometry. The picture size updates based on the resolution you select.
Create outlines
Generates geometry along the outline of an image.
Manually trace bitmap image
Lets you manually trace an image by creating and editing geometry. This option gives you additional control over the resulting geometry.
Create center lines
Generates geometry at the center lines of the shaded regions of an image. This option provides very different results than the other two methods (creating outlines and manual tracing).
Zoom in/out
Zooms in to see an enlarged, close-up view of the image to be converted. Choose this button again to zoom out to the original size.
Background bitmap
Creates a shaded copy of the image which can be checked against the resulting geometry. A background bitmap is automatically created when you do manual tracing. The box to the right displays the currently selected color for the background bitmap. A four-square color pattern indicates that the Use original bitmap information setting is currently selected. When the Background bitmap option is selected (even if no longer available), you can choose the color button to open the Color dialog box and change color settings for the background bitmap.
Adjust thickness
Adjusts the thickness of the raster image on which the center lines are based. The image in the preview window updates to show the adjusted geometry.
Optimize for
Determines the type of geometry that best represents the image. This option affects the type of geometry that the converter outputs.
Accuracy
Determines how closely the converter looks at each pixel in the image when mapping geometry as lines, corners, or arcs.
Spline Parameters
Opens the Spline Parameters dialog box, where you can set spline parameters for a spline fit conversion.
