Zip2Go Overview
Use the Zip2Go utility to zip the disk file of the currently open Mastercam part file into a .Z2G, .ZIP, or .MCAM-CONTENT file. The program checks to see if the file has been altered and will prompt you to save the file before creating the zip file. That file can be opened and viewed with most zip/unzip programs such as WinZip™. This is especially useful if you are trying to share file information with technical support contacts.
You can also open a file made in Zip2Go by dragging and dropping a it onto the Mastercam graphics window. The Zip2Go utility automatically opens and displays the packaged files without disturbing the current Mastercam file.
While all three files compress the content, .MCAM-CONTENT files maintain the default folder structure and can easily be dragged and dropped into Mastercam for automatic extraction to appropriate folder location.
Zip2Go scans the machine groups in your current file and captures information such as your Mastercam configuration, machine definition, post files, tool and material libraries, Wire power libraries, ATP files, STL files, and machine group default and operation files (example shown below).
No matter which file type you create, the Zip2Go utility creates the following reports in a read-only .TXT format :
Contains a collection of relevant files used by each machine group in the Mastercam part file that was scanned. For example:
- File name and path with date and time stamp.
- Version of Mastercam you are using, and units of measure.
- Default and operation files (including Wire power library files).
- Mill, Router, and Lathe custom tooling.
- Mill/Router STL files.
Contains information on the computer system on which the file was created. For example:
- The version of Microsoft Windows.
- The amount of RAM memory on your computer.
- A few details on the installed graphics card.
- Details on your monitors and their resolution.
- Registry setting data used by Mastercam (the Mastercam registry keys under HKCU and HKLM).
Contains information on all the files for Mastercam. Only the application system folders are scanned. The Mill, Lathe, Router, and Wire folders (and their sub-folders) in the Mastercam install folder (Mastercam 2026.R2) are not scanned. Furthermore, any part files found in any folder that is scanned will not be included in this list. This is to ensure that the collection of data never includes potentially confidential information.
This report contains information from the Mastercam HASP on all the files for Mastercam, including the HASP serial number and the products licensed on the HASP. It also detects if Mastercam CONNECT is active, and if so, the report includes the Mastercam CONNECT expiration date.
