Section Chaining

When you chain multiple entities—using a Window, Area, Polygon chaining method—Mastercam automatically defines a "section" if adjacent entities are tangent. In Section chaining, Mastercam chains along a set of smooth curves. The section angle determines the "smoothness." Curves that are less than the Section angle, defined in the Chaining Options dialog box, are considered tangent and are, therefore, chained. When Mastercam encounters an angle that exceeds the section angle, or comes to a branch point (a point in a chain where the endpoints of three or more entities meet), it ends the chain.

Section chaining simplifies the process of chaining a set of curves, for example, when creating a net surface (a surface constructed from a network of intersecting curves).

Chaining selection that continues along the chaining path until a highlighted angle.

1 - Section chaining starts the chain here.

2 - Chain ends here when an angle that exceeds 30 degrees is encountered.
