Find Holes panel
Use the Find Holes function to detect holes on one or more solid bodies with no history. Use the parameters in the function panel to limit detection of holes by type and radius. You can create solid hole operations or fill holes with plugs, as well as detect holes on solid bodies or faces. The Selection options allow you to add or remove solid bodies or faces from the selection list. Also, you can choose the levels on which to place associative points and plugs.
When Find Holes detects a hole, it creates a solid hole operation in the Solids Manager. For creating extrusion operations from holes, see the Add History function.
Find Holes detects complex holes when you select the Hole operations option. Hole operations finds all holes with the radius dimensions that you enter. Mastercam creates an operation in the Solids Manager for each detected hole.
In certain cases, Mastercam may have difficulty generating Hole operations when holes are detected. The Create plugs option in the Find Holes panel creates independent, solid bodies (plugs) where these problematic holes are located.
The Create plugs option differs from the Fill Holes function used for meshes and surfaces. In the case of meshes, Fill Holes adds meshes to holes caused by scanning or probing errors. In the case of surfaces, Fill Holes creates a trimmed surface within the boundary defined by each selected hole.
