Turn Profile panel
Use the Turn Profile function to create a 2D profile from existing solids, meshes, or surfaces. Mastercam creates the profile in the currently selected plane by one of the following methods:
- Spinning the selected geometry about the selected axis
- Creating a cross section (slice) through the selected geometry in the XY plane
NOTE
You can choose to create the profile from the upper half, the lower half, or the entire cross section of the selected entity.
To
create a 2D profile
- Choose Wireframe, Turn Profile.
- Select the solid, surfaces or meshes on which the profile will be created.
- Press [Enter].
- In the function panel, select Spin or Slice based on the methods described above.
- Set the appropriate tessellation tolerance for your profile.
- Select the radio button (Upper profile, Lower profile, or Full profile) that will give the desired results.
- Optional: Click Reselect under Axis of Rotation, and select the axis line about which to rotate for the turn profile. (If no axis is selected, the function uses the World X or Lathe Z axis.)
- Click OK.
